The finest electrical workers in the country receive their training through the National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (NJATC) of National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Its model education partnership, which produces the best-trained, most up-to-date electrical apprentices and journeyman in the country, has clearly demonstrated the most cost effective way to train qualified craft workers. The Mission of the NJATC is to develop and standardize training and to educate the members of the IBEW and NECA, insuring the Electrical Construction Industry with the most highly trained and skilled workforce possible. Skill, Knowledge and Attitude are the main focus in all of the NJATC’s training programs.

ELECTRI International – The Foundation for Electrical Construction Inc. has a clear focus. It funds, conducts, coordinates, and monitors the industry's most critical research and commissions and delivers to the industry exemplary management education and supervisory training programs.

ELECTRI International was established in 1989 by the National Electrical Contractors Association, the voice of the $100 billion industry responsible for lighting, power, and communication systems in buildings and communities across the United States. In partnership with NECA, ELECTRI International works to help electrical contractors meet today's demands and tomorrow's challenges.

Major contributors to ELECTRI International receive a permanent appointment to the ELECTRI Council. This premiere group of individuals, companies, and industry organizations has united to support the electrical contracting industry through the Foundation's Research Center, Education Center, and International Center.

ELECTRI Council members analyze industry trends and issues, review project proposals submitted by the finest universities and research institutes, recommend major initiatives for project funding, and serve on appropriate blue-ribbon Task Forces to guide each commissioned project from start to finish. The Task Force members' insight and experience help make certain that the initiatives funded are of the highest quality and that the results are made available to every member of the electrical contracting industry.

The success of ELECTRI International is well-established and well-deserved. To date, more than $20 million has been contributed to the Foundation. ELECTRI International has funded a total of 97 research projects. Of this, 56 are complete and available and 41 are in progress. ELECTRI International's educational agenda includes transforming research results into meaningful, useful, contractor-speak educational programs and awarding annual scholarships for education presentations at the NECA Chapter level. On the international scene, the Foundation conducts seminars, briefings, and studies on cross-border relationships to encourage business and cultural exchanges among contractors throughout North America.

ELECTRI International is proud to serve as the pro-active research and educational resource for the electrical contracting industry.

The Inland Empire Joint Apprenticeship Training Center

The NJATC was created over 68 years ago and has developed into what perhaps is the largest apprenticeship and training program of its kind. Local programs affiliated with the NJATC have trained over 350,000 apprentices to journeyman status without cost to the taxpayers. This joint program between the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has clearly demonstrated the most cost effective way to train qualified craft workers. Those in NJATC training programs are not a burden to the taxpayers for they are earning while they are learning. Each year, participants in the NJATC programs pay in excess of six hundred million dollars in taxes. This is truly a model program as it takes little to nothing from the taxpayers while training some of the most productive workers in the world who thereby pay tremendous dollars to the country. Skill, Knowledge and Attitude are the main focus in all of the NJATC's training programs.

Career vs. Job

Are you looking for a job, or are you looking for a career? If you're looking for a career, you're in the right place. Helmets to Hardhats places quality men and women from the Armed Forces into promising building and construction careers. Acceptance into the building and construction trades is your first step to a great future. Careers in these trades enable you to earn while you learn and get rewarded for hard work. Being a member in the building and construction trades entitles you to competitive salaries with consistent raises, pension plans, excellent medical benefits and flexibility when it comes to taking time off.

Apprenticeship Program

Most candidates will enter an apprenticeship program where they learn a trade through on-the-job training supplemented by classroom instruction at state-of-the-art training facilities. Typically, there is no charge for the training and you will be paid for the time you are working. The pay you receive from an employer can be supplemented by education benefits under the G.I. Bill, adding hundreds more dollars each month to your take home pay. An apprentice's pay increases periodically over the course of the job, and as the apprentice becomes more skilled. Many apprenticeship programs have arrangements allowing individuals to obtain college credit for classroom work. Upon graduation, you will become a journeyman -- a craftsperson recognized for his or her knowledge and ability in the selected trade. In some cases your military experience can give you credit towards journeyman status and allow you to enter an apprenticeship program at an advanced level or be classified as a journeyman immediately.

Benefits of Joining a Certified Apprenticeship Program

* High pay, great medical insurance and some of the best pension plans in the nation.

* High quality training at well-resourced training centers that are recognized by Regional Education Certifying Councils and Boards.

* Use your Montgomery GI Bill or other veteran educational benefits.

* Earn while you learn. Receive on the job training and get top notch classroom instruction.

The purpose of the NECA Management Education Institute (MEI) is to develop and provide management education programs as a service to NECA members and Chapters. The MEI curriculum is focused on the business, technical, and project management disciplines which are essential to success in the electrical contracting industry. This curriculum comprises a hierarchy of knowledge that addresses the needs of electrical contracting managers beginning with their early roles as supervisors and continuing through their tenure as decision-making executives with corporate responsibilities.

The Institute brings a wide range of resources to bear in the continuing development of the educational services program, including the research capabilities of the Electrical Contracting Foundation, on-staff experience and instructional capabilities, and the teaching and research expertise of academic faculty and consultants. MEI works in partnership with the NECA regional and chapter structure to deliver its courses where they are accessible to NECA member firms and their management employees.

In today’s fast-changing business and technical environments, management decisions and strategic thinking must occur at all levels of the company. MEI is here to meet the management development needs of NECA’s electrical contracting community.
